In January 2019, everyone was talking about the Fyre Festival documentaries on Hulu and Netflix. A major takeaway was how much the festival creators spent on their infamous promo video shoot. We realized it could have been made much cheaper with Shutterstock. Acting quickly, my partner and I recreated their video using only $2K worth of stock footage. The Internet loved it. Within hours it gained over 100 pieces of press coverage including Adweek, PR Week, Vanity Fair, WSJ, The Drum, AListDaily, Design Taxi, and drove over a million visitors to shutterstock.com
